The final day of the Sport Chalet US Open opened with the Women's Pro division. An eclectic group of women from around the US and the globe made it a great show for the large crowd on hand.

World tour vet Vickie Reale was on fire moving all the way to the final, and following her charge was Japan's Chiaki Okuyama. Roberta Bitzer and Claudia Ferrari, both former US Champions surfed well but their run was stopped in the Semi Finals. Karla Costa Taylor surfed consistently all the way to the final. The Men's Drop Knee Finals followed the Women's Pro and had no lack of action. The waves seemed to be
getting better throughout the day. Three riders representing Hawaii- Stan Moniz, Chris Taloa, and David Hubbard;
as well asCalifornia athlete Joe Grodzen all made the final. The standings changed many times, finally settling in
favor of formerDrop Knee world champ David Hubbard.

The Women's Pro finals included California residents Natasha Overin and Vickie Reale, alongside Hawaii resident
Karla Costa Taylor and Japan's- Chiaki Okuyama. Vickie held first place until the last minute of the heat, when Chiaki
backed up her first score with a solid combination of air rolls to spin landing her on top for the 2011 Sport Chalet US Open.
The Men's Pro Finals featured two Hawaiians- David Hubbard and Jacob Romero; and two Californians Joe Grodzen and
Drew Erickson. The Ocean went flat for the first 10-minutes of the 25-minute final. From there however things heated
up with David Hubbard with a three move combo of Air rolls and spins to give him a dissembled over the competition.
Jacob Romero battled back with consistant riding and clin back flips, however David became dominant towards the end
placing first with two very decent scores.
With all Pro finals out of the way it was the amateur's who where on the US Open's stage next. Amazing performances came from the likes of Shawbaz Soaia and Matt Holzman both making it from the islands of Hawaii. Each placed first in one division each making it a clean sweep for the 13-18 and Open Amateur finals. The 12 and under Division was taken out by Luke Overin who surfed smooth and mature for his age followed by Tanner Daniels who was right on his toes in the fin
The USBA was excited to finish in great conditions on a sunny California afternoon and is expecting even bigger and better things in 2012 for the Sport Chalet US Open of Bodyboarding.
