2011 Pounders Roundup.


Pounders Roundup is an annual bodyboard event held each summer at Laie Beach Park (Pounders), Laie, Hawaii, designed to promote the ocean as a healthy, positive outlet for the youth and adult members of the Ko'olauloa communities on the east side of the island of Oahu, Hawaii. This year's headline sponsors are Hukilau Cafe, Made in Laie, and Surge Bodyboarding. Hukilau is located on Wahinepe'e Street in Laie and was featured in both Man vs. Food and 50 First Dates. Made in Laie is a silk screening and embroidery company also located in the town of Laie. Surge Bodyboarding in an online media company dedicated to the progression of the sport of bodyboarding. 


This year's roundup is two fold:

Beach Cleanup - Saturday, July 16th, from 9AM to 12PM.
Cost: Free
Sponsor: Hukilau Cafe
Hukilau Cafe is serving more hot dogs and drinks than your heart can handle. Get there early, grab your wrist band, and help clean up the beloved Laie Beach Park (Pounders). There will be a meet the pros, product give-away, and bodyboard clinic held by a handful Hawaii's top professional bodyboarders from 12:30PM to 2PM. Be there or you'll miss out. Lastly, this will be a good time for participants in the bodyboard meet on Saturday, July 30th, to pay all entry fees and guarantee a slot in the event.

Bodyboard Meet - Saturday, July 30th, from 9AM to 5PM.
Cost: $15 includes shirt, raffle ticket, and entry into one division.

Come out compete against some of Oahu's best in one of seven ability divisions:

- Youth (10-14 years)
- Juniors (15-17 years)
- Mens (18 years & older)
- Drop Knee (scored on dk only)
- Female
- Launch (scored on biggest air)
- Standup (no hard boards, no skegs)

The winner of each division will receive a brand new bodyboard and top four in each division will receive prizes from clothes, fins, leashes, dvds, gift certificates, etc. Whether or not you enter the Pounders Roundup, invite your family and friends to come out and watch the contestants go at it and enjoy a day at the beach.
