Vienna Music Film Festival - New York.

The famed Vienna Music Film Festival crosses the Atlantic to bring a unique open-air experience to Brooklyn Bridge Park on August 29, 2011. The Vienna Music Film Festival, the popular free outdoor film series that has toured numerous European and Asian cities highlighting the best in Austrian classic music performance, will make its North American debut on Monday, August 29, 2011 in New York’s Brooklyn Bridge Park. Presented by IMZ (International Music + Media Centre) and Czekaj Artistic Productions, the free film festival will screen a selection of classical music and opera productions recorded at Austria’s (and Europe’s) most prestigious music venues—including the Wiener Musikverein, the Wiener Staatsoper, the Salzburg Festival, the Waldbühne Berlin, the Zurich Opera House and more—and starring such opera and classical luminaries as Placido Domingo, Nikolaus Harnoncourt, Sir Simon Rattle, Franz Welser-Möst, Anna Netrebko, Cecilia Bartoli, Renée Fleming, Diana Damrau, Jonas Kaufmann, Rolando Villazon, Lang Lang and others.
Building on the tremendous success of the film festival that has taken place in Vienna’s City Hall Square for the past 20 years (and in touring shows in Prague, Budapest, Bucharest, Warsaw, Zagreb, Belgrade, Moscow, Yekaterinburg and Tokyo)—allowing some 700,000 visitors annually to enjoy the very best classical music and operatic performance totally free of charge—the Vienna Music Film Festival at Brooklyn Bridge Park will allow New Yorkers the opportunity to experience Austria and Europe’s finest classical opera and concert performances, with a view of the downtown Manhattan skyline as a backdrop!
The festival will open at 7pm on Monday, August 29, with the film beginning after sunset at 8:30pm. Gourmet Austrian food vendors will also be on hand throughout the evening to give visitors a sample of the very best of Viennese cuisine. (In the case of inclement weather, the festival will be moved inside to The Tobacco Warehouse at Brooklyn Bridge Park.)
And in cooperation with the Vienna Tourist Board, the Vienna Music Film Festival will offer a prize drawing to win a six-night trip for two to Vienna; to enter, visitors must go to www.imz.at before August 28, 2011 to answer a trivia question about Vienna and be in attendance at the Brooklyn Bridge Park drawing to win.
The Vienna Music Film Festival in Brooklyn Bridge Park is supported in part by its exclusive media partners, THIRTEEN/WNET and WQXR, in cooperation with Sono Artists Consulting, the Austrian Cultural Forum, the Consulate-General of Austria in New York, the City of Brooklyn, the Brooklyn Bridge Park Conservancy, the Austrian Tourist Board and the Vienna Tourist Board.
