The White House announced November 14, 2009 that the 2011 APEC Leaders’ Meeting will take place in Honolulu on November 12 and 13, 2011. Leaders of APEC’s 21 economies are expected to attend. Themes for the meeting will be announced by the White House at a later date. A statement announcing the APEC meeting said, “The President looks forward to welcoming his fellow APEC economy leaders to the state where he was born and to showcasing Hawaii's rich cultural heritage and hospitality. Here we are again in May 2011 for a new edition of the Cannes Film Festival.
