Slater Defeats Wright in Historic Final to Win Hurley Pro at Trestles.

Image
Kelly Slater topped Owen Wright in their third consecutive Final to win his fifth Hurley Pro at Trestles title. LOWER TRESTLES, California/USA (Wednesday, September 21, 2011) –  Kelly Slater (USA), 39, has won his fifth Hurley Pro at Trestles title, defeating Owen Wright (AUS), 21, in a hard-fought Final that saw the iconic Floridian overtake the young Australian in a last-minute exchange with a final score of 17.50 to 16.74. Slater and Wright’s third consecutive Final bout marks a first in ASP history, as no two competitors have faced off in three successive ASP Dream Tour Finals – a noteworthy statistic in sparking this new rivalry in the battle for the ASP World Title. Slater roared to life on the Final day, unloading the highest heat-total of competition, 18.40 out of 20 in the Semifinals, and maintained his lethal form throughout the day’s entirety with a consistent display of new-school airs and patented carves to clinch his unprecedented 48th elite ASP World Tour victory and

Julian Wilson (AUS), 22, reveled in the high-performance waves on offer at Lowers today to earn the highest scores of Hurley Pro at Trestles Round 1 competition. LOWER TRESTLES, San Clemente, CA (Sunday, September 18, 2011) –  The opening day of the 2011 Hurley Pro at Trestles saw the world’s best surfers tear into high-performance two-to-three foot (1 metre) waves at the iconic pointbreak of Lower Trestles, and the event’s top seeds dominated against the new addition of ASP Dream Tour surfers brought on via the midyear rotation. Stop No. 7 of 11 on the ASP Dream Tour, the Hurley Pro at Trestles has played a crucial role in determining the ASP World Champion over the past three years, with the event winner building momentum in to the back half of the year. Julian Wilson (AUS), 22 carried momentum from last week’s equal 3rd place finish in New York and dismantled both the lefts and rights at Lower Trestles to earn both the day’s highest single-wave score of 8.93 (out of 10) as well a

My Thoughts About 09/11/2001.

Image
Got to New York 6 months after 09/11/2001, i took the subway to the ground zero and  i was the only one to get off the train at Park Place, everybody was looking at me guessing what i was doing but in my mind i was just looking to see whats happened to The World Trade Center Towers, it was chocking for me to see all got destroyed, a place where everybody are just having good times, shopping or cruising around looking the beautifull Lower Manhattan was all gone, incredible! I Love NY and I got a lit emotioned writting this thoughts today on 09/11/2011. I was just a kid when i got to Manhattan for the first time, grewn up as a person and learned a lot living for many years in New York/NY, sorry Brooklyn, Bronx and Queens but Im from The City and I Really Appreciated, like they say "If You Can Make it There You Can Make it Anywhere". Thanks New York for All that I learned in Life. My Condolences to The Families and Prayers Today to The Victims, RIP All.

Owen Wright Takes Out Kelly Slater to Claim Quiksilver Pro New York and US$300,000 First Prize.

Image
Owen Wright (AUS), 21, has taken out the Quiksilver Pro New York and surfing's richest prize purse ever (US $300,000) over Kelly Slater (USA), 39.   Owen Wright (AUS), 21, has claimed his maiden ASP Dream Tour victory, taking out the inaugural Quiksilver Pro New York over Kelly Slater (USA), 39, to earn the historic US $300,000 first-place prize purse in offshore three-to-five foot (1 – 1.5 metre) surf at Long Beach, New York. The Quiksilver Pro New York Final marked an rematch between the two from the last stop on the ASP World Title Series in Teahupo’o, but today proved to be Wright’s day, claiming revenge on Slater in front of the capacity crowd in New York. Wright wasted no time in the Final, belting a 7.00, a 9.23, and an 8.00 in the opening minutes of the heat against the Floridian with a savage forehand attack on the clean lefthand walls, setting the bar too high for the reigning 10-time ASP World Champion to overcome.

On 9/11, Astronaut Looked Down on Horrific Scene.

Image
This photo of metropolitan New York City was taken by an Expedition Three crew member onboard the International Space Station on Sept. 11, 2001. A smoke plume rises from the Manhattan area where the World Trade Center was destroyed. The orbital outpost was flying at an altitude of about 250 miles. The 9/11 terrorist attacks 10 years ago this week sent shockwaves not just around the planet, but into space as well. The only American not on Earth on that day in 2001,  NASA astronaut Frank Culbertson , had a unique vantage point on the attacks. From the  International Space Station , Culbertson snapped a photo of smoke streaming from the World Trade Center wreckage that day after two hijacked planes crashed into the Manhattan towers.

LONG BEACH, Long Island/New York (Wednesday, September 7, 2011) –  The Quiksilver Pro New York continued for the second consecutive day at Long Beach in Long Island, New York and saw the completion of Round 2 as well as the first four heats of Round 3. Stop No. 6 of 11 on the ASP World Title Series, the Quiksilver New York marks the final event before the mid-year rotation while also offers up the richest prize purse in surfing history of US$1,000,000. Hurricane Katia continued to deliver increasing three-to-four foot (1 metre) surf throughout the day, and there was no shortage of fireworks that went off in Long Beach. Adriano de Souza (BRA), 24, current No. 4 on the ASP World Title Series, vigorously attacked the Long Beach lefthanders on his backhand and belted the day’s highest single-wave score of 9.20 while netting the top heat-total of 17.93 (out of 20), in Round 2 before taking his Round 3 h

Sometimes an editorial doesn’t need bells and whistles to make an impact: case in point  Vincent Peters  simply beautiful story for Vogue Italia  featuring  Isabeli Fontana . There is nothing edgy about the story, but the combination Peters’ cinematic lighting, Valentina Serra ‘s exquisite selection of clothing and Isabeli’s beauty makes for memorable images. The vintage vibe of the entire series is an interesting contrast to some of the other stories in the issue -  most notably, Meisel’s avant-garde cover shoot with Stella Tennant.  by Models.com

The Quiksilver NYC Pro - First $1.000.000.00 Surf Contest.

Image
Like a good ambassador of NYC i would like to present: There has never been a world championship surfing event in the State of New York, and it has been more than 20 years since an elite level professional surfing event has set stakes in the sands of the United States' east coast. The decision to create the $1 million Quiksilver Pro New York was made with equal respect for the world's best surfers, the global surf industry, and New York's surfers who embody the pure motivation that inspires every surfer on Earth. Quiksilver has never been afraid to roll the dice. The surf industry didn't build itself on ‘safe'. Surfing wasn't always a viable livelihood. There has never been anything conventional about it; in fact, the stand against convention and popular perception has, in essence, fueled the sport's allure since its inception. Surfers are inherently risk-takers, and no matter what their station in life, they'll tell you that their choice of the
